- Thanks to indigenous raw materials and free trade agreements, products such as garments, shoes, coffee, and rubber are in high demand on international e-commerce platforms, particularly Alibaba.com, according to a workshop in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday.

Ho Thi Quyen, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Trade Promotion Center, speaks at the workshop on unlocking export potential, HCM City, February 28, 2025.

Nguyen Thi Phuong Uyen, Marketing Director of Alibaba.com Vietnam, emphasized that Vietnamese products have a strong competitive edge on the platform.“The primary advantage lies in pricing—not through cheap labor or low costs, but through preferential tariffs under free trade agreements . Key industries benefiting from strong demand and high order volumes include garments, footwear, coffee, and rice. Additionally, Vietnam holds a strategic advantage in goods origin,” said Uyen.

Thousands of Vietnamese businesses have joined the Alibaba e-commerce platform across 590 product categories. Ho Thi Quyen, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade and Investment Promotion Center, said the agency will connect with reputable global e-commerce platforms to provide training for businesses.“Experts have been invited to offer specialized guidance, helping businesses seize opportunities and integrate more effectively with e-commerce platforms,” she said.

Young Liu, Country Director of Alibaba.com Vietnam, noted that the platform offers numerous incentives for Vietnamese sellers. This year, Alibaba is prioritizing upgrades to its supply chain and logistics solutions, specifically tailored to the Vietnamese market.
